Amie Eipers-Ponzio, LCSW, C.H.. Originally from Bloomington-Normal, IL, I moved to the Naperville area in 2005. I have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Illinois State University and a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and I received my license in 2004 becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have 29 years of experience, in a variety of settings, including working for DCFS, drug / alcohol treatment program, supervising a crisis nursery and family visitation program (for families with a history of domestic violence), outpatient mental health intake, working as a mental health clinician on an inpatient psychiatric unit at two hospitals, as well as my private counseling practice.
I have two children—my daughter is attending college in Normal, IL, and my son is attending college in Rock Island, IL. There are many activities I enjoy, including playing with and walking my dog, redecorating our house (I am really into painting furniture right now), going to concerts, travel, and reading. I also really like working out, and hope to get back into running soon. I lost a large amount of weight around 2001, and gradually began incorporating running into my workouts. By 2010, I felt ready to run a race, and completed the Chicago Rock and Roll Half Marathon in August, 2010. Since then, I have run many more races, of varying lengths, and it has now become something my husband and I do together. Though my kids are essentially out of the house, I stay busy with our "zoo"—a dog, two cats, and two Peruvian guinea pigs.
I am happy to announce that I was the recent recipient of the 2020 Best of Naperville, IL award, Psychotherapist category. I am both humbled and grateful for those who nominated and voted for me, it is truly an honor to be recognized in this way.
